Two single-sex schools in Barry, South Wales, recently merged and re-organised themselves into two mixed-sex schools, renamed as Pencoedtre School and Whitmore High School.
Their new brand identity and website design was created by Cardiff-based Wonder Company, who chose us to build their brand-new websites.
Using Wonder’s designs, we set about to build the new sites, both powered by WordPress, and both with an identical codebase yet distinct brand identities. The use of an identical codebase for both sites means that only one set of training would be needed, allowing staff at both schools to comfortably edit either of the two websites as needed.
As well as a series of custom page templates, we built them a sortable and filterable News section, a ‘Week A/B’ functionality which displays which class timetable the school is currently on, an ‘Announcement’ functionality which will prominantly display important announcements such as school closures, and a countdown which was displayed before the launch of the new schools in September 2018.
