The Institute of Welsh Affairs is a Welsh political think tank, coming up with “practical ideas to improve the economy, education and health”, whose vision is to “create a Wales where everyone can flourish”.
The organisation previously had two separate websites – the main IWA website and their news analysis publication Click on Wales – on two separate domains and with two separate designs.
We designed and built them a bespoke new WordPress website, with a clean and modern design that brought their website bang up to date and better showcased the work that the organisation does to promote political engagement across Wales.
We brought the two websites together, moving them both onto a new .wales domain, and fully handled the migration to ensure that all existing pages from across both domains seamlessly redirected to their equivalent pages on the new site. Although both sites
We also built Eventbrite integration, allowing the IWA team to upload their events to Eventbrite as normal, and have the information automatically pulled into their new site without them needing to duplicate their workload.
We pushed their membership options to the forefront, with clear calls to action in the header and throughout Click on Wales articles to help increase the organisation’s revenue.
As part of the project, we also revamped their MailChimp email templates, and built sophisticated signup forms which funnelled users into one of two MailChimp lists depending on their newsletter preferences.
The website is fully English / Welsh bilingual, which we achieved using WPML. The IWA team can now easily translate any new page or news story they add to the website, and add menu items to both the English and Welsh site in seconds, without needing any technical knowledge.
